Hi Pam,
01 and 02 are PL OK, and what an edge of the seat chapter this has been!

In the pseudoscientific discourse of the times there was a great deal of talk about the atavistic affects of "mongrelization," as it was called, when African people married with other races. Distressing, and mainstream racism of the not so distant past.
The action is taking place on the north coast of Panama.
My best,
Pam

Hi Pam,
Section 04 is PL OK. Yes, the double think in that section was noteworthy - life under the Spanish was unendurable, and yet the sympathy clearly only extends so far.

Hi Pam,
Section 06 is PL OK. And a nice refresher for a verb I don't use nearly often enough! Not sure when I'll fit it in to conversation, though!

Thanks, Erin! I left off the accent marks on my laptop.
