Join Rough and Ready for his adventure on the streets of New York City. Working as a newsboy, Rough and Ready tries to support himself and his sister on his meager earnings. Unfortunately, their stepfather is seeking to kidnap little Rose, getting an education is hard work, swindlers are trying to trick him out of his money, and thieves are planning nefarious deeds. Luckily for Rough and Ready, he makes some good friends along the way. Summary by Tori Faulder
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/55142
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

MW coming up.

edit: I shortened the file name. Long names lead to mistakes. Let me know if any changes are needed. Do you want to advertise for a dpl or do you have someone you'd like to invite?

Well, jenniferrd did the proof listening for the last book in the series that I read. I'll send her a message and see if she is interested in listening to this one too.

I'm happy to have jenniferrd join. I'm looking forward to collaborating on another project with her. I'm sorry it took me so long to get back. It has been a crazy few weeks with school starting and our annual DC trip. I should be on here more this coming couple of weeks.

I just noticed that your file names have a _ before the .mp3. It probably doesn't have any impact but as our books are hosted by Archive.org it might. If you could rename the files, upload them and then change the link in the MW that would be great. Thanks.

Section 3 and 4 - PL OK!

Wow, I think I want my son to listen to this one, he thinks we're really mean to make him wash dishes, clean his room, and help mow the yard!

My niece too:)

Real life invades me all to frequently as well. I'll be trying to get several sections in this week/weekend, but don't worry if it takes time for you to get to them.
