The Luck of the Dudley Grahams by Alice Calhoun Haines (1874 - 1965).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-luck-of-the-dudley-grahams-by-alice-calhoun-haines/
The Luck of the Dudley Grahams is the story of the four Graham children and their recently widowed mother, trying to make ends meet by taking boarders into their somewhat eccentric home, as told by 17-year-old Elizabeth to her diary. She chronicles their struggles with the boarders, housekeeping on a very tight budget, and the adventures of her three younger siblings. If the category existed at the time, this would be more of young adult novel than a children's book, as Elizabeth has her moments of angst and worry about herself, her family, and their future. • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Yay! Thanks!

I'm pretty new at reading fiction, I have mainly read nonfiction where the emphasis is more on clarity. Does it sound expressive enough? I know I'm no good at making very different voices so I try to keep that to a minimum but still try to get some of the emotion across.

Thanks!

I think you're doing fine. You have a very clear voice, your articulation is spot on and I thought you did your voices well, I could tell who the different people were by the voice.

Section 2 - PL OK!

I'm always amazed at how different (and the same) life was back in that time. Makes me grateful for what I have!
