This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/obryv-by-ivan-goncharov/

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Yes, this is not a mistake, it's going to have 102 sections.

Part 1 has 18 chapters
Part 2 has 22 chapters
Part 3 has 23 chapters
Part 4 has 14 chapters
Part 5 has 25 chapters -- total 102 sections.

I'll start recording tomorrow, probably, to see how it goes. If I manage to do 2 sections a week (doable, I think), it will take me a year to finish, but I have put August of 2020 as the finish date.

There are about 1000 pages total, meaning that each section, on average, occupies 10 pages, and given that I can read at the rate of about 2 minutes per page, we're looking on 20 minute sections. I think it reasonable.

Your MW is up and ready for you! I am assuming that we don't have a DPL already, so we will wait here a couple of days to see if we can pick one up. If not, we can advertise for one. I don't mind how long it will take you to finish the project, just as long as you are enjoying the text.

Thanks, Ann. I hope I didn't overtax you with "The Precipice"...

Finding a DPL may be a challenge -- we don't have many members who speak Russian, let alone read it (if need check with the text), and this project is quite a commitment...

ETA: I've put all section titles in the MW and edited the first post a bit (to make it nicer  )

Oh no, not overtaxed! It is so easy to handle these projects when I am not also taking on DPL duties! I figured I might as well take this one one since I MC'ed the one in English. Makes for a certain amount of continuity!

We can wait as long as we need to for a DPL, I will go ahead and advertise for one, just in case we get a mad rush of Russian speakers signing up for volunteering at LibriVox and they have a love for this book!
