Curlie Carson Listens In by Roy J. Snell (1878 - 1959).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/curlie-carson-listens-in-by-roy-j-snell/
[/b]
It is early in the days of radio, and amateurs are using it more and more, and using it illegally. Enter Curlie Carson, who has the job of tracking down the miscreants. Sounds boring. You wouldn't expect high speed car chases, kidnapping, double dealing, and maybe even murder. ( Tom Penn)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/files/19351/19351-h/19351-h.htm
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I can set this up, Tom.

Edit: All set. Do you need to advertise for a DPL?

I updated the summary in the first post.

When I click on the link to this book on my reader page, it doesn't take me here. I think it is a missing database entry??

Thanks.

It is automated from when you fill in the template. The link in the first post works for me.

I'd be happy to DPL this project, if you'd like.

Don
Terrific! Thanks Don. I'm expecting to do 1 chapter a week, maybe 2 chapters now and then as they tend to be fairly short.

Edit: Just FYI, I don't care about minor deviations from the text. I do care about my occasional tendency to slur words, so let me know if I say something unintelligible.

Aah... yes, that was my error. Once I have set everything up, I have to go back to the project page and copy the link from here to there. Sometimes I'm distracted... or, mor often, I think, I forget to 'save'
Should be fixed now.

Chapter 2 PL notes:

1) One small repeat @ 13:57 - the sequence "…and mounted on a…" in the phrase:

"Dressed in full riding costume and mounted on a blooded horse..."

2) I noticed that the filename began "curly..." rather than "curlie..." as in the first chapter filename and the initial post information.

Thank you,
Don

Chapter 2 fixed and ready for spot PL.

Good catch of the file name. I seem to have a lot of trouble with Curlie's name. When I recorded chapter 1 I found I was calling him Curlie Carleson. It might not be right, but at least it has a nice internal rhymn in addition to the alliteration.
