Poems by Mary Coleridge (1861 - 1907).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/poems-by-mary-coleridge/

Mary Coleridge was a novelist, essayist and biographer. She was also a talented poet, and her posthumously published verses are variously meditative, joyous, gothic, wistful and devotional. ( Newgatenovelist)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/poemsmary00cole
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): wordperfect

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Note for a prospective MC: I've retained the full disclaimers for the first and final sections, but I'll be using the shorter poetry intros and outros for the other poems.

Thank you, Ann! It is a monster, but a very poetic monster. And somebody has to record it, right? So I'd better get cracking!

Lovely Pam, I've only got the first five ready, and they're short. If you want to wait a few days, I should have more and you can do it as a job lot if you prefer.

Hi Erin,

Sections 1,3,4,5 are PL OK.

In Section 2, at 0.35 I hear "I'll" for "I".

My best,

Pam

I totally agree! And I love the fact that you are taking on the whole thing all at once!

Since we are off and running, we'll just run on over to Going Solo!

It does seem long, until you think about it as a life's work. Even if it takes me months to record, it's still so compact.

There are some poets I'd like to work on, but their collected works have to be split (like Carolin has done with some authors) into separate books because they're over the limit for the Internet Archive's number of sections. But at least those ought to be released faster than one big project like this one!

Pam, I'm sorry about that. It's always slightly embarrassing to have the very first thing on a project need correcting! Let's try it again. I've redone 002 altogether, and I hope it's better!

I don't think the project is too big and I don't mind errors!
