How cute! Trouble is they grow up and get ugly as they fledge and then they get eaten.

How about a picture of the cattle?

Sounds like you have full fledged farm going there in Ohio!

Well, Mary, we raise meat chickens, so they only live for a max of 8 weeks. We don't really have that problem, yet. They're just sitting in our garage right now (they're 2 days old) and making a bunch of noise. We might be getting 200 egg layers this year though. Here is one of them (and my beautiful face): https://imgur.com/a/gds5f9L
I do apologize, but we don't have cows on our property yet, we should have them in 2-3 weeks. To hold you, here is a pic of last year's cattle: https://imgur.com/a/O3vEHUj
The one I'm feeding ended up being about 900 pounds, hanging weight! If you want beef, we'll sell it to you.

Please, join in the conversation more often, I love to hear from you.

Section 6 beautifully read. Just one technical problem to fix . :(

The sampling rate should be 41.1 kHz and it is 48 kHz.

You really do keep getting better and better. You going to do The Texan Triumph?

Here is the edited chapter 6: https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/texanscouts_06_altsheler_128kb.mp3
I WILL remember to change that sometime.

Thank you! Do you think I might be able to get a job sometime by reading audiobooks? Maybe Audible or some such service. Yes, I am planning on doing the Texan Triumph, after I finish this one though. I was going to be converting all of Altsheler's works into audio, it's going to take a while, but I may be able to do it.

I do think you could get a job as a voice actor. I think you need to listen to professionally recorded books to get an idea of the difference in quality. Right now you are a great amateur, but you'll need to work on diction some and there are things you can learn to "change" voices without damaging your throat. Voice actors do voice overs for video, commercials, podcasts, video game voices, cartoons, radio announcers, etc. I don't know if any schools offer courses for study to be a voice actor, but you could start with speech/drama courses at a local school or even voice coaches who coach singers.

Have you done an internet search to see what jobs are available for voice actors? I think a lot of people do it for a side job. For now, just keep up the good work. :D

Well, thank you! That is a great vote of confidence. :D I did do some searching around for voice actor jobs, but by gum, they require you to have experience to get experience. The job that had the smallest requirement for experience was a year. Do you think they would count LibriVox as experience? I do listen a bit to some Audible recordings, and I must say, they're excellent. Do you think my recording setup is silent enough for critics?
Well, you see, I can't just go into a public school and get some acting lessons, as I happen to be homeschooled. I would probably have to go to a community college.

You want to buy some? We sell it for freezer beef and whole chickens, I guarantee it is the finest beef and chicken you will ever taste.

Well, maybe on the chicken, but my grandpa raised cattle on the farm where I grew up, and we butchered every year, so I have had some pretty good beef . . .

So I'll go with cute and fuzzy and fluffy and leave the eating to others.

We will have to agree to disagree, I've never tasted your grandpa's beef (I'm sure it's excellent) and you've never tasted mine. Let's go with this, my beef is the best I'VE ever had. You leave the eating to me, but if you wanted to visit sometime, I'm sure you'd be welcome. Also, Chicago isn't too far away to buy beef, we may be able to meet you in St Louis.

Another great read, but just a bit too LOUD. Volume checks in at 92.7, so if you could de-amplify by -1 that would fix it.
