The file was exported at 75kbps. We require 128kbps (constant). Before you export it though you should reduce the volume as it's a tad high (93.1dB where we require files be in the 86-92dB range). One way to reduce the volume would be to lower the first 13m (they are louder than the rest). Just highlight the section from 00:00 to 13:00 and amplify it by -2dB. Otherwise the file is pl ok.
Thanks, Dave. I'll see what I can do. I don't recall having to work through kbps numbers. Truth be told I don't know what they are (or I forgot). I amplify to what audacity suggests and normalize to -1.0 db after I'm done editing. I'll try the suggestion and upload again.

re-uploaded chapter one, duration 16:49 https://librivox.org/uploads/craigdav1/flowerofthedusk_01_reed.mp3

and uploaded chapter two, duration 15:54 https://librivox.org/uploads/craigdav1/flowerofthedusk_02_reed.mp3

(Did the reading for chapter 3 today too. There is more fun about these characters than I initially thought.)

I checked your files and the bitrate is still not 128. Here is a video that may be helpful.

sect 1
PL notes:
1-The "Title" is missing from the MW
2-The bit rate should be 128 kbps.
3-The recording should use a constant bit rate rather than variable bit rate (VBR).
4-duration time is incorrect. I am not sure how this can happen, but the recording goes past 16:49 to 17:01 (whispering or low volume?).

Now to the good news, the recording part is PL OK. You sound great!

tech issues:
1-(83.7db) The volume falls outside of the target range (86–92 dB).
2-The bit rate should be 128 kbps.
3-The recording should use a constant bit rate rather than variable bit rate (VBR).

Thank you, Dave! Thank you, Helen! Straight forward tips and information just as I need it. I watched the video and managed chapter three with the bit rate method.

duration 16:31

I'll get to work on the magic window and the other chapter files.

Just a reminder that the file names should include "128kb" in them.

e.g. flowerofthedusk_01_reed_128kb.mp3

Hi. I re-uploaded the chapters with the upgraded file names and amplified the volume on chapter one.

And here is a new chapter, number four, duration of 16:49

I've got chapter five ready, duration 16:05 here:

And oh my gosh, that was a very nice, pleasant one. New characters to meet. :)

I'll set it up in the MW now.
