There is a line in chapter 7 that has left me scratching my head after nearly two weeks of trying to track it down. Near the end of the chapter is a line referring to a J.D. Walker:

"J.D.Walker, Cham. Ex. Committee"

I cannot ascertain what the Cham. stands for, of what the Ex. stands for. Any ideas or suggestions on how to narrate this?

Jeff,
My internet searches of the name and the abbreviation have been equally unsuccessful. Rather than guess, I would suggest reading it as either
"Cham Period Ex Period" or spelling it out (C-h-a-m Period E-x Period). I doubt any reader will know the meaning and if they did either way of reading it would be sufficient.

I'll go with that. I thought Cham. might be a very bad abbreviation for "chairman", and Ex. a very bad abbreviation for "executive". I doubt that he was an executive anything because all searches of the fellow's name seemed to go nowhere productive.

Recording time 11:47

I have about 10 days before the summer session begins at the college, so I hope to get this book completed very soon.

Thanks, Dave. I was sort of surprised that some of the liberated prisoners had negative effects from overeating. A fellow graduate student in the 1970s told me that a relative of his was an Andersonville prisoner who had eaten a big, celebratory meal and promptly died. At the time he recounted it, I was incredulous.

I've wondered about the issue. This is probably he third "Andersonville" I've read.
