Mark the Match Boy or Richard Hunter's Ward by Horatio Alger, Jr. (1832 - 1899).

This project can now be found in our catalog at https://librivox.org/mark-the-match-boy-or-richard-hunters-ward-by-horatio-alger-jr/
(In this third installment from the “Ragged Dick” series by Horatio Algers, Jr., the reader is reacquainted with some old friends and meets young Mark Manton. Mark is a match boy plagued by bad luck and an even worse guardian. But, with new friends, hard work, and smart choices, Mark may just find his luck taking a turn for the better. )
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/53071
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi and a big welcome to your first solo. I will set this up for you tonight so hang in there. Ask if anything is confusin.

EDIT: Ok, your magic window is up. I am having a little problem adding you as a BC but soon that will be done and you can update the magic window.

Note that i shortened the file name and added 128kb at the end for when you export the MP3 files.

EDIT2: Well, you are in and can populate the magic window now. As I said earlier, just ask if anything is unclear. here is a video about accessing the magic window. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cDPSmlTjGM&t=11s it may not be very clear but it has the gist of things.

There should be another link on the page to click when that happens. Try that and let me know. I have checked and you should definitely have access.

Thanks for the offer Jennifer. The soloist has the final say about who will PL but I think yo would do a great job. This is standard PL so just read the materials about proof listening in the first post of this thread and ask if anything at all is confusing. When the soloist responds, we will go further. welcome again!!!! Here is a flower for volunteering Image

A note for the soloist, have you been able to access the Magic Window?

Section 1:
There is a humming noise (maybe feedback) at 18:29 to 18:49. Everything else is PL OK.

Great reading, very interesting story! :)

Jennifer. Did you know that you can get into the magic window and change the status from PL Needed to something else? In this case you wouild have been from Read for PL to See PL Notes for the reader to fix, upload again with the same file name, and then notify you that it iwas ready for a spot check. Here is a video I made before we changed the forum looks but it is still valid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cDPSmlTjGM&t=73s Let me know if it is confusing or if you alread know all this stuff. :D
