The Ins and Outs of Paris or Paris by Day and Night by Julie De Marguerittes (1814 - 1866).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/the-ins-and-outs-of-paris-or-paris-by-day-and-night-by-julie-de-marguerittes/
Paris has been often described, by travelers, by artists, by savants, by friends and by enemies, yet it was after reading most of the works descriptive of Paris that I felt how much there was still to be written, if not about Paris, at least about the Parisians. (excerpt from the book)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/insoutsofparisor00marguoft
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
    • Say:

For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
    • "Chapter [number] of The Ins and Outs of Paris or Paris by Day and Night by Julie De Marguerittes. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"

1-Will you be doing the reading for this project?

2-Is it too soon to ask to DPL? :D

The topic looks interesting (especially since I have never been to Paris).

This is set up. :)

I've shortened the file name a bit, to make it more manageable. And I've given it the genre, Non-Fiction/Travel.

Other than that, I think you're all set.

"We're almost neighbours! I'm in Florida"

Huh? That's not very neighbourly.

"for the winter but live in Ottawa."

Hi Tricia!!

I have a quick question. At the beginning of every chapter under the title is a breakdown of all the content in that chapter. Should I read that or not...am worried the person listening will wonder what's going on. :)

Can you take a look when you have a minute and let me know please.

Have a great weekend and thanks! Celine

It's up to you. Personally, I don't care to read (or listen to) the chapter summary at the beginning of chapters. But some people do. Your choice. :)

Thank you! I'll leave them out because frankly in some cases there are so many that a person couldn't possibly remember them anyway. :)

FYI, you don't have to put the tenths of a second. Just minutes:seconds (whole) is fine. ;)
