Narrative of the operations and recent discoveries within the pyramids, temples, tombs, and excavations, in Egypt and Nubia by Giovanni Battista Belzoni (1778 - 1823).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/narrative-of-the-operations-and-recent-discoveries-within-the-pyramids-temples-tombs-and-excavations-in-egypt-and-nubia-by-giovanni-battista-belzoni/

Giovanni Battista Belzoni (1778 – 1823) was an Italian explorer and pioneer archaeologist of Egyptian antiquities. He is known for his removal to England of the seven ton bust of Ramesses II (British Museum), the clearing of sand from the entrance of the great temple at Abu Simbel, the discovery and documentation of the tomb of Seti I, and the first to penetrate into the second pyramid of Giza. This 1820 narrative of his travels and discoveries is fascinating. Full title: Narrative of the operations and recent discoveries within the pyramids, temples, tombs, and excavations, in Egypt and Nubia; and of a journey to the coast of the Red Sea, in search of the ancient Berenice, and of another to the oasis of Jupiter Ammon ( David Wales)

  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Dave at craigdav1 says he will dpl and mc. Thanks! It is difficult to predict the final number of sections as this book is not divided into chapters. I intend to record blocks of 35 to 40 minutes and fill in the titles as we go along.

Let me know if anything needs fixing. Should be a fun book. Who can resist "ancient Egypt."
