Poems by Alice Duer (1874 - 1942) and others.

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/poems-by-caroline-king-duer/
Alice Duer was a successful American author who wrote poetry, novels and screenplays and campaigned tirelessly for women's suffrage. Her sister Caroline was an editor at Vogue magazine. This beautiful collection published in 1896 and the first of their early poems, is centered around the themes of love, friendship and loss. ( Nemo)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/stream/poemscaro00duerrich#page/n11/mode/2up
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

    • At the beginning of the recording, read the abbreviated "LibriVox disclaimer":
"[Poem title], by [Author’s name], read for LibriVox.org by [your name]"

Helen (HZFerr) has agreed to be DPL for this project.

Note to future MC, I've also modified the disclaimers in line with short poetry projects.

Nemo,

I can MC.

MW is started.

Since this is a solo and you are in the US, you don't need the "Volunteers outside the USA:" paragraph.

The first recording needs the full disclaimer, you can use the shorter version for the rest.

You can remove the section in the first post about ID tags.

Moving this over to Going Solo.

Nemo, I like the idea of not using "he said" & "she said" (that is annoying).
