Chapter 13 is PL OK. What a great laugh as an opening!

Wish you could have seen Seattle this time of year. The flower cherry trees and daffodils are in full bloom and everything looks so fresh and clean. So much of the rest of the country (and London, too, it sounds like!) have been having such rotten weather that I'm doubly thankful!

Hi

Seattle sounds lovely at the moment.

We have daffodils throughout our garden; they have come in three waves and the first two lots were badly battered by snow wind and rain; but there are sxo many now that we have lots of yellow. But the weather continues cold and miserable.

Here is Chapter 14. I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you Nick! Hope you had a blessed Easter as well.

My daffodils are just starting to bud . . . when we finally get a bit of warm weather will have things popping all over.

Chapter 14 is wonderful. Marked PL OK.

Here's hoping the Midwest finds its way out of the deep freeze soon, MaryAnn. What a winter you've had!

Chapter 15 is PL OK.

Sometimes Trollope's political reports can be comfort. Our politicians have always played party politics, had questionable dealings during elections, and made ridiculous campaign promises, but Western Civilization has so far survived it.

Hi

I do agree - and it is salutary to remember how recent the behaviour is that Trollope (and Dickens for that matter) was describing!

Here is Chapter 16

The weather has suddenly turned warm - in the seventies plus Fahrenheit - and the plants have responded instantly

If the worst thing our politicians did was to buy hats for all the women, we would consider ourselves very lucky!!

Chapter 16 is PL OK. I'll enjoy Chapter 17 tomorrow.

What a great crowd scene! I never appreciated that chapter when I read it silently. You made it come alive. Thanks! Chapter 17 marked PL OK.

Hi Arlene,

At last here is Chapter 17. I think there are some lovely touches - I hope I have done them justice.

Hi Arlene,

Here is Chapter 19.

https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/drthorne_19_trollope.mp3 25:52.6

There will be a break of 2 -3 weeks now as we are off to Greece on a dinghy sailing holiday - similar to what we did last June, with the same group of people.

Hope all is well with you

Chapter 19 is marked PL OK.

Hope you are having a wonderful time in Greece. I'll be returning home today from Tucson, Arizona, where I've been visiting my daughter. We've had a lovely time, but now both of us need to get back to work.
