There's always another weekend! :) But as it happens, my book group isn't meeting tonight (due to too much merriment planned for the next two evenings), and so Chapter 5 gave me my "book fix" for the night. Wonderful as always. Thanks!

Hi Arlene and Maryann - so sorry, but the Christmas preparations have got in the way of editing chapter 6.

Have a wonderful Christmas. I'll be back in the new year.

With every blessing to you both

Hi

I hope you had a good New Year's Eve.

Here is Chapter 6

There seem to be some changes with the way the forum looks - and I had difficulty uploading and also finding Dr Thorne in the Going Solo forum.

Regards

Chapter 6 sounds great! Marked PL OK. Glad to see you survived all the holidays. I am so thankful to finally have a week that started on Monday, with all the normal weekly activities. I love the holidays, but this year seemed to be just too much of a good thing. I always felt in danger of missing an appointment or commitment, because I had to ask myself several times a day which day of the week it was!

Hi

Here is Chapter 7

https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/drthorne_07_trollope.mp3 29:59.6

Just had a lovely week of celebrations

earlier in the week was taken to the cinema to see Film Stars don't die in Liverpool - a lovely film, if somewhat sad - and then last night went to see a farce played very well indeed by an amateur company - laughed out loud a lot.

Have a good weekend

It will probably be my last until mid to end February, as we are off on our annual cross-country skiing trip to Norway.

With best wishes

Hi Arlene,

We had a wonderful holiday - only marred on the last day by Helen having an accident and dislocating her shoulder.
Thanks to a wonderful medical team her shhoulder was put back in place and we were able to fly back safely, if slightly uncomfortably.

She sees the physio on Wednesday morning, when we find out what she may and may not do, and how long this is likely to last.

Meanwhile here is Chapter 9.

Chapter 9 sounds wonderful. My mother enjoyed it, too. I'm staying with my parents as my mother recovers from knee replacement surgery followed by pneumonia followed by a fall that broke a bone in her back, followed by anemia. She is really on the mend now, and I'll be going home on Wednesday.

I hope Helen is mending well after her fall. It's too bad to have your vacation end that way. But glad you got home safely, if not comfortably.

Hi

I'm so sorry your mother had such a catalogue of problems - you must be so relieved she is better enough to manage without you. I'm glad she enjoyed my reading!

Helen is much better - attending the physiotherapist weekly and able to do most things, albeit with occasional minor pain. She is very frustrated that she cannot sail for the while, though.

We had bad snow last week, which meant we couldn't visit Chris and Amy and our granddaughter Felicity - then within a day it had all disappeared!

Here is Chapter 10 - I hope you enjoy it.

Hi

Here is Chapter 11
https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/drthorne_11_trollope.mp3 22:57.4

Our snow has all gone and we are beginning to see spring.

We have been able to go swimming and to the gym again, although Helen is still a bit restricted in what she can do. the physio says she should be able to sail by the end of the month!

Hi Arlene

Hope all is well with you - and with your mother.

We spent Monday to Thursday up in Northampton on chicken pox duty - Chris (our middle son) and his partner/fiancee Amy) have used up all their parental leave and Felicity (our granddaughter) had to be kept at home so as not to pass on chicken pox to all the other children in the nursery!

Back home now, with a second bout of snow and freezing weather - although not so bad as a fortnight ago.

Here is Chapter 12. https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/drthorne_12_trollope.mp3 34:58

All the best

Grandparents' duty is apparently not all ice cream and tickles! My mother is doing much better. I hope Helen continues to mend.

It seems like sitting down to PL these two chapters has been the cue for the phone to ring. But as I've had some lovely conversations with friends and family, I don't regret the delay. They were worth waiting for--several laugh-out-loud moments. Thank you!

Marked PL OK.
