Schopenhauer in the Air by Sadakichi Hartmann (1867 - 1944).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/schopenhauer-in-the-air-by-sadakichi-hartmann/

Sadakichi Hartmann was an art and literary critic who wrote plays, short stories and several volumes of poetry. Hauntingly beautiful, these seven early short stories dance with themes of beauty and death, love and the soul, and existence itself. As found in the book's biographical note: sometimes a great author tears the mask from life, so we may look at the truth of beauty. ( Nemo)
  1. Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/schopenhauerinai00hart
  2. Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Ava, yes!

He was born in Japan to a German father and Japanese mother. His mother died in childbirth and his father sent Sadakichi and his older brother, Taru, to Germany to be raised by his uncle and grandmother.

He had a very interesting life to say the least!

These stories are quite beautiful and are woven with that mystical Japanese flavor. I hope you enjoy them!

Hi Nemo,

This is PL OK! :) This is my first time listening to any of your recordings (I think, been a long time LV listener). I love the tempo of the reading, I'll definitely adopt that best practice moving forward. :)
Thanks,

Ava Gonzales
