The Path to Prosperity by James Allen (1864 - 1912).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/the-path-to-prosperity-by-james-allen/
‘The Path to Prosperity’ (sometimes rendered as The Path of Prosperity) is part one of James Allen’s first published work titled ‘From Poverty to Power’ alternatively titled ‘The Realization of Prosperity and Peace’ (1901).

Part one is an empowering volume which is likely to enlighten the reader as to how much power they have over outward circumstances by virtue of their own thoughts. Allen regularly communicates this by providing examples on how the laws which govern the inner-world (of thought) operate in a manner similar to the laws of nature.

Free from speculative philosophies, ideals, and dogma; it provides highly practical guidance on how to bring about lasting changes in any area of one’s life.

Part two (titled ‘The Way of Peace’) dives deeper into the concept of self-perfection and was later published as a seperate book.

Excerpt from forward:
“And I dreamed of writing a book which should help men and women, whether rich or poor, learned or unlearned, worldly or unworldly, to find within themselves the source of all success, all happiness, all accomplishment, all truth.”

Written to appeal to the wider audience (in simple, modern English), it’s timeless wisdom is as relevant and attainable in today’s age as ever.

This is a recording of part one - The Path to Prosperity.

Summary by Sonnie Abdalla
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://james-allen.in1woord.nl/?text=from-poverty-to-power
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I have some bad news for you. We can not accept this text for a project. There are restrictions on this text, that it cannot be alter or sold. Many of our audio books end up on Ebay, for sale, which is a no-no from the author. Plus, I have a feeling that this a modern text, we only accept texts that have a copy right date before 1923, or, if it is after that, that Project Gutenberg has cleared it as fully PD.

from your previous thread, deleted at your request
There is a copy on Archive showing the publication date of 1906 which could be used as it is clearly PD https://archive.org/details/frompovertytopow00alle
The 2nd part though is labelled the way of peace. We have 2 solos of each of these parts already in the catalogue , so those Soloists obviously chose to treat them as seperate projects .

Many thanks,

I was frightened for a second there, I've recorded this book countless times and been spending around 6 hours a day to get it up to standard. I want to have it completed by my birthday, July 28th.
I'm ready to submit Chapter 7 for PL today. :)

Would you like me to submit another ‘New Project’ with the updated text-source?

Kind regards,
Sonnie

You can edit your first post here and put in the new text source. If you can't figure it out, let us know which one you'll be using, and your MC can do it for you. :)

Done.

Apologies, that was kind of obvious. I thought edits to posts appended them.

Exciting times. :)

I'll MC.

I've set up the MW for you. As you're the soloist, you're in charge of updating the Magic Window.

Detailed Instructions for accessing the Magic Window can be found in the document linked below:
Instructions for Soloists

Video showing how to use the Magic Window (read the above document first - it has the information on how to log in for the first time, which this does not have):
Magic Windows / Section Compiler: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOP4tcr1kl8

When you upload a chapter, put the file duration (mm:ss) in the Notes field and the uploaded URL into the Listen URL field, and mark it from Assigned to Ready for PL.

Holler if you have questions. :)

7
Volume is low (81.8dB) and the file needs to be amplified by 7-8dB. Files should be between 86-92dB with 89dB as the ideal volume. Clipping will not be an issue when amplifying this file. Otherwise the file is pl ok.
