Hi -

Section 35 is uploaded

https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/personalnarrative3_35_humboldt.mp3
20 min 9.2 sec, 89.9 dB

Plenty of sweeping generalisations in here, but geological.

My brother-in-law told me about the direct AKL-ORD flights with the comment "now that's handy". (My daughter and her family live in Chicago. different surname.) Don't know how long ago you visited NZ, but even the shoulder times are getting very busy, and the peak times are getting impossible in some places without tight forward planning. However, the true back-country is still quiet and usually deserted, and always wonderful, even in the rain (but I hate wind).

Cheers, and thanks.

35 PL OK.

Yes, I found this chapter more interesting. Even with some dull parts, these volumes are an amazing legacy.
For me, the forest birds (and the incredible sounds they make) are the most attractive feature of NZ. Now if only you drove on the right side of the road.

AvH would have marvelled at modern geological understanding.

I marvel at it. Though physics seems to be having another one of its "revolutions."

Hi --

Section 37 is uploaded.

https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/personalnarrative3_37_humboldt.mp3
20 min 40.8 sec, 89.0 dB

And a warning that he is doing his thing of putting in 2 or 3 pronunciations of a word again - all very similar and may sound like repeats.

Spring is starting for you (tulips on Michigan Ave?) -- last weekend we went for a 4 day walk up the Hopkins river valley -- got snowed on!

Thanks for listening.

Zillions of tulips! Finally turned off our gas fireplace as temperatures jumped up into the 70s.

Hi David and Anne -

I've found the next book that I am going to read. It is:

Pioneer work in the Alps of New Zealand; a record of the first exploration of the chief glaciers and ranges of the Southern Alps by Arthur Harper. https://archive.org/details/pioneerworkinalp00harp

I will put in the SOLO project form later this morning.

Are the two of you interested in keeping the team together and carrying on as DPL and MC for this project? This one should be quite interesting, at least to the NZ back-country obsessed.

Cheers
