Prophets, Priests, And Kings by Alfred George Gardiner (1865 - 1946).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/prophets-priests-and-kings-by-alfred-george-gardiner/
These biographical essays of (mostly) British subjects were written in 1907-1908 for The Daily News newspaper and reflect their subjects as seen before the great cataclysm of World War I. Gardiner was a British newspaper editor, journalist, and author. His essays were and are highly regarded. ( David Wales)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/prophetspriests00garduoft
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Might as well make it a 3 Dave project again. Be right back with the MW.

David, you may want to switch to this 1908 version - https://archive.org/stream/prophetspriests00gardiala#page/n7/mode/2up
also a 1914 pdf version https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.264174
the edition you've linked to is a 1930 reprint.

Hello Dave II and Dave III,

Another change of version: The edition that Dave III referred us to is the original 1908 edition. But in comparing it to the 1914 edition I see that there are differences. I feel I would like to use the later edition as being closer to what the author finally decided on. There are several later printings of the 1914 edition, which I have now avoided to make sure there is no copyright issue. Here is an internetarchive version:
https://archive.org/details/prophetspriests00garduoft

I have changed the text source in the original posting. I will record the later Preface which will then replace the Preface I have already uploaded. I hope this is clear. Sorry for the confusion. Let me know if there are problems.

Thanks so much for your help.
Peace, David
