[COMPLETE] The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James-ans
Section 4 (chaps. 6 and 7) is now up. It seems a bit strange that Isabel A. comes from Albany, rather than New York or Boston like most of James's American protagonists. But his father came from Albany, and young Henry, though born New York City, lived in Albany as a boy for a few years. Henry also had a rather haphazard ("promiscuous" someone called it) education. His father pushed him in the direction of science and philosophy rather than the more normal education of Greek and Latin classics. I imagine that Isabel's rather unconventional education, loosely guided by her father, comes from Henry's memories of his own book-learning.

Section 8 is up. This is chap. xiii, but note that for some reason the heading "chapter 13" never appears in the text. In other words, you can't do a word search for it.
However, if you search for "it was this feeling and not the wish to ask advice" that will take you to the beginning of 13.
