The Life of Thomas, Lord Cochrane, Tenth Earl of Dundonald : Completing the "Autobiography of a seaman". Volume 1 by Henry Richard Fox Bourne (1837 - 1909) and others.
Lord Cochrane was a Napoleonic-era sea captain, whose adventures were the source material for many popular series of naval fiction. He started to write a biography but passed away after completing only two volumes. This work, co-authored by a naval historian and Cocharne's son, completes his "Autobiography of a Seaman". In this volume, Cochrane helps the Chilean navy defeat the Pacific navy of Spain, and then takes command of the navy of Brazil. It ends with him sailing to Greece, to aid them in rebellion against their Ottoman overlords. ( Timothy)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated). Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

The book is forward-loaded with an infodump of the previous biography as the first chapter, so Ch1 will be a longish one, I'm sorry, and a bit repetitive given that you've heard the previous book. 8(
The Preface OK except that, at 5:21, you make our old friend the Duke of Clarence from the Aubrey/Maturin novels, the Sixth King William instead of the Fourth.
