  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.eldritchpress.org/ez/germinal.html
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Ok, Tony and Martin, you're all set to go.

Tony, I see that you have http://tonyfoster.blogspot.co.uk/ currently on your catalogue page as your personal URL. In this project you listed https://twitter.com/f0zzer as your URL. There is only room for one. Would you like me to change it?

I'll move this to Going Solo. As always, please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Have fun! :)

Off topic - Tony, you asked a while ago about my recordings with voices and I forgot about The Island of the Nine Whirlpools from The Book of Dragons. I was quite pleased with how my characters turned out in this short story (40 minutes).

Thanks Bev, and yes please change the URL to my Twitter page if it's no trouble.

Your witch gave me a genuine prickle of fear! Just the right balance of crone-ish and sinister. I'd be disappointed if some portion of the younger readership weren't left with mild psychological scars.

And we're off! Or should I say - 'Nous sommes partis!'

I am grateful to the original French recording for pronunciation of some personal and place names and to Martin for pointing me there.

Bev, you may now safely delete surplus sections 41 thru 45.

Hi Tony

Very bleakly atmospheric opening - PL perfectly OK. The French names are going well; but I'd suggest that you look out for the aitches - they're always unaspirated, even where they occur between vowels, as in Ma(h)eu.

Very best
Martin

Mission accomplished! Thanks, Tony. The witch was fun to do because I didn't have to worry about going OTT. She could be way out there.

Sections deleted and URL changed. Carry on.

Duly noted, though belatedly for the following section, recorded yesterday. Thanks for the tidy-up Bev, and a doorbell chime recorded in that witch voice would be the perfect thing come Halloween I reckon!

Part 1/Chap 3 PL all OK. Superbly read. That dense accumulation of detail gives the writing such power; I felt I'd been there, suddenly wrenched from retirement.

Best
Martin

That sense of dank claustrophobia and extremes of temperature, doubt if I'd last till lunchtime...

Poor old Bataille will haunt my thoughts for the rest of the day. Poignant writing.
