  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/3451
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Maggie, this book has 217.000 words, which will result in a finished recording of about 26 hours.

We usually recommend to our first time soloists to choose something significantly shorter, around 5 hours or so...

Are you still interested in soloing School of the Woods, I might be interested in DPL'ing, although I've had very limited PL experience.

Ava, I understand its a long read, but I can handle it if someone will MC it :)

I am still interested in doing School of the Woods also. If I can't get someone to MC this book, I'll do that one. Would love to have you PL it!

OK, your MW is ready for you. Now I have some homework for you to do before anything else.

Since you are doing a solo project, you are your own BC for the project. You need to be able to get into your Magic Window (MW) to put the titles in for the sections and to paste the links that the uploader gives to you when you upload a section. Here is the link for accessing the workflow (or MW) for the first time. Please do this as soon as possible and let me know if you have gotten in, or are having problems. http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/BC%27s:_How_to_update_the_Magic_Window

We will wait here a day or two to see if we can attract a DPL for the project!

Ann, thank you so very much! I was able to get in and have since added all the chapter titles :) Thank you for walking me through this!

No, I'm afraid it would be a little long for a first DPL project. But thank you for the offer, and once again, good luck!

Absolutely! You can either wait until someone takes pity on us and volunteers, or you can advertise in Listeners Wanted. For new soloists, the usual DPL'ers sometimes wait to see how fast the project moves, especially since this is a large project. But, it is up to you if you want to advertise or not.
