    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/35090
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Well, I do appreciate your enthusiasm, but we need to take a step or two back and do things in the proper order.

The first thing is to complete a one-minute test. This is mentioned in the welcome message we send. You will also find more information about that in the Newbie Guid to Recording referrence in Point 2 of the instructions in the header post for this project, but here is the link: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Newbie_Guide_to_Recording I stronly suggesting reading through this in case you haven't already.

After the test is officially approved, you may claim a section to read.
Also, as mentioned in the instructions, you need to let us know exactly how you want to be listed in the LV catalog -- real name, pseudonym or nickname. A section can't be assigned until that happens.

Then - AFTER - your claim has been acknowledged, you are free to record and post your file.

There are good reasons to follow the proper procedures here, so I hope you can do this because you would be most welcome to join in.

Let me know if you have any questions.

PS: Thought I'd just take a look at what you submitted, and there are major issues.
1- the bit rate is wrong
2. the volume is too low
3. Five seconds of silence needs to be left at the end of the recording (see instructions under point 7)

---- These are all things we identify and get corrected in the test recording, which is why we ask all new readers to do one and have it approved, so they don't have to be handled within each project.

BTW, you also omitted the title of the chapter in your introduction

Congratulations!

I'll save 28-31 for you, but before I can assign officially, I need to know how you would like to be listed in the LibriVox catalog. Many of us use our real name because this is how we are credited for our work, but you may use any pseudonym or nickname that you wish.

The original recording you submitted will probably have to be redone, unless you can correct the issues I indicated.
