Twilight in Italy by D. H. Lawrence (1885 - 1930).

Quote:
In 1912, a young D.H. Lawrence left England with Frieda Weekley and travelled to northern Italy via Germany. He stayed in Fiascherino, on the Gulf of Spezia, basked in the fading life of traditional Italy. This is where he began work on The Rainbow and Women in Love.

  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/twilightinitaly00lawr
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I will MC this project for you. We can't use the summary you have provided since it's from a non-public domain source. I suggest you try writing one yourself once you have read the book.

Since this will be your first project as soloist/book coordinator(BC), you will need to set up a password for access to the workflow system so you can enter the information into the section compiler which then appears in the "Magic Window" in the top post. Here are some links to detailed instructions for logging into the system and setting a password the first time, as well as for entering and editing information in the section compiler.

First Time Logging in to the Workflow

Instructions for BCs and DPLs

A version of the above is also in the LibriVox wiki in case you can't access Google Docs for some reason.

BCs - How to Update the Magic Window

Please also note I have shortened the suggested filenames and added the _128kb.

If you have any questions, let me know. I'll leave this thread here in the Launch Pad for a day or so longer before I move it to the Going Solo forum, to see if a DPL (Dedicated Prooflistener) volunteers. Looking forward to working with you.

Hi Jo,

That's great and thank you. I will set up a password and read up what to do with the magic windows. I have a total of 5 other committed chapters still to do for other projects. As excited as I am to start Twilight in Italy I must complete those first. I will let you know as soon as I start.

kind regards,

Debs

OK Debs. I'm moving this thread our of the LaunchPad over to Going Solo. When you are ready to start on this project, you can advertise for a DPL.

Hi Jo,

Thank you for your helpful notes. I have completed my outstanding chapters on my previously committed projects and am now ready to move forward with Twilight in Italy. I've added the chapter names and wordcounts. Sorry but I could not see where you had shortened the names of the chapters.

I am about to advertise for a DPL. I hope this is all as you expect. Please let me know if it is not.

regards,

Debs

Hi Jo,

I just read through the tips on how to be a BC and I understood from that the MC advertises for a DPL. Is that right? Or do I do that?

Thanks,

Debs

You can do it. An admin (me or someone else) will sticky and lock the topic in Listeners Wanted once you post it. Here's a link to the template with directions how to modify and post it.

http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/ProofListening_Template

I usually wait until I have a couple of files ready for Prooflistening before I post it. :)

Hi Cheryl

I've gone ahead and added you as DPL. This project is standard PL.

Debs,

It's been almost 3 months since your last post. Please let us know if you plan to continue with this project. Thanks.
