... might even be a bit further; some of the sections are longer than I was expecting. I wonder if this is going to be the biggest solo that we've done?

Thanks for your help, Annise,

PL for Section 50:
1:10 – 1:31 repeat of 2nd paragraph read to “brougham in bad weather” p294 2nd column
21:46 – 21:50 background ”rustlings” but quite loud at 21:50. p298 2nd sentence of 2nd paragraph of “…CHILDREN’S BOOKS” section. (Also a little at 22:15 and 22:20.)

[22:40 A sort-of swallow and rustle at “E Markey” (Mafkey? The text is very unclear.) 16 lines from bottom on 1st column.]
[23:42-44 loud-ish rustlings around “Tune – John Anderson, my Joe” top of 2nd column p298.]

I love the way they avoided having to buy an auctioneer's licence!

Thanks, Gill. Section 50 edited and re-uploaded.

They do sometimes have to put a lot of work into evading unfair laws. I think Henry Mayhew has considerable sympathy for the people he's interviewing. I remember his (carefully underplayed) disgust at the behaviour of the police in making street traders "move on".

***

(Times are now 0:47-1:29) repeat of 2nd paragraph read to “brougham in bad weather” p294 bottom of 2nd column
-- {DELETED Thanks for catching that; the long repeats are difficult to spot.}

21:46 – 21:50 background ”rustlings” but quite loud at 21:50. p298 2nd sentence of 2nd paragraph of “…CHILDREN’S BOOKS” section. (Also a little at 22:15 and 22:20.)
-- {Times are now 21:18-22:04) Rerecorded from "One of the books" to "I'll Love Thee Ever Dearly"}

22:40 A sort-of swallow and rustle at “E Markey” (Mafkey? The text is very unclear.) 16 lines from bottom on 1st column.
-- {I zoomed in quite a long way onto "Maekey"; I do think that's what's printed. For me, I'd have thought "Mackey" was more likely, but there does seem to be a horizontal line making an "e" of the possible "c". Time stamp is now at 22:16 ... Rerecorded "That pretty word, Yes, note E. Maekey endnote"}

23:42-44 loud-ish rustlings around “Tune – John Anderson, my Joe” top of 2nd column p298.
-- {Now at 23:16 ... Rerecorded "The Peremptory Lover note Tune - John Anderson, my Joe endnote"}

Thank you very much, Anne; I thought I'd better use Gill's solo thread initially, as my comment led on from what's going on there.

Section 51 uploaded.

From "Of the Street Sellers of Fine Arts" - PDF 334-339 / text 301-306

Total so far, approx. 32:08:53

There's what I think is a typo at 29.58, which I've corrected, at the start of para 3, col 2, p 305. The text is "A man who, until the charges ...", but I think it should be "... until the changes ..."

Section 52 starts at "Of the Capital and Income ..." - PDF 339 / text 306
