25:42 "to make move laughter" but there is no "make" in text: just "to move laughter". Do you want to re-correct this? Your choice.

Thank you, Gill, I've no idea how I made that slip-up. I've uploaded an edited version. I'm sorry for your extra download.
My next section will probably be next week, so happy Christmas to you.

Thanks, Gill;
Here's section 36.
From "Of the Habits ...", PDF pages 236-240 / text pages 217-221
ERRATA in section 36:
All on text page 218
(7.56) 3rd line in last para, col 1, [... because a great amount of intelligence ...] for "because" read "although"
(8.01) 5th line in last para col 1, [...that no education, ...] for "no" read "an utter want of"
(10.52) last line in list of symbols, col 2, for "flummut" read "flummuxed"
***
There were a few sentences in this section that I didn't understand. I don't know whether it's because of typos, changes in the way some words are used, or simply my not being able to work out their grammar. I've read them to match the text, but I may have the emphasis wrong. Please do tell me if you spot any sentences where you know what Mayhew's trying to say and I've obviously got it wrong.
***
Total so far, approx. 23:02:37
Section 37 starts at "Of running patterers", col 2, p 221

PL notes for Section 36 Just two small points:
4:41 "smack" heard just before "reader's note" before the table p217
19:25 odd "croaking" noise just before "and if he knew you" p220 1st column, line 19 of "Of the Publishers..."
Everything else seemed fine to me.

Section 36 edited and uploaded. I'm not certain that I've fixed the croak at 19.25 (I just overwrote that patch of silence).
Thanks, Gill ... and a Happy New Year to you.

It was odd to hear the patterer mentioning a horrible murder at Chigwell Row ... which is less than half a mile away from me ... but I can't fiind any reference to it on the internet, as there's been a much more recent one (which I hadn't noticed at the time).

Hi, Peter.
I'm on holiday at the moment but should get to this at the weekend. Haven't heard of the murders, recent or otherwise. Hope you're not adversely affected.

Thanks, Gill, I've edited and re-uploaded section 37.
There was another 'orrible murder in Chigwell Row in 1887 (reported in a New Zealand paper!), and a more recent murder with an automatic gun by someone who lives in Chigwell. Nothing close to me, luckily.

I suppose it's as well not to know about murders close by us. I enjoy fictional ones in detective stories but can't comprehmend someone deliberately taking another human life. Most of those mentioned seem to have been "mistakes" too.

Me, too; I've often discussed it with my friends. Although some murders are understandable (spur of the moment rage, or the result of last-straw long build-up of abuse, for example) many seem to be for obscenely corrupt motives.
This is true for many crimes; it's hard to imagine the mental patterns that could lead to them. I read Clarence Darrow's book on the criminal mind for Librivox a while ago, but can't remember much about it now. I was impressed by his discussion of the reasoning that leads to crime, but I was a bit put off by the way he presented his opinions as facts ... which I felt was very much a result of his profession as a lawyer.
