A Chinese Wonder Book by Norman Hinsdale Pitman (1876 - 1925).

This project is now complete. All files can be downloaded from the catalog page here:https://librivox.org/a-chinese-wonder-book-by-norman-hinsdale-pitman//[/color]

This project is now open as a group project! BC is kathrinee

The Chinese Wonder Book is a compilation of Chinese folktales full of moral values and insightful stories of China's culture and traditions. Some of the beloved stories included in this book are "The Golden Beetle or Why the Dog Hates the Cat," "The Great Bell," "The Strange Tale of Doctor Dog" and "The Talking Fish." They are gloriously illustrated in full color by gifted Chinese artist Li Chu Tang providing magnificent visions of the magical world of China and its people. Sylvia Lin provides an intuitive foreword that will introduce the reader to Chinese folklore making this an endearing classic children's book. -Wina Salva Hathaway
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/18674
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Great!

Go to this post: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=13513 and use the Project Template Generator link. Fill in all the information you can, and submit it. Then copy all of the resulting code and edit your first post here - paste it all in. It'll have all the info we need to set it up, as well as all the info you'll need for intros, outros, file names, etc. :)

I can MC - back in a bit with a MW :)

ETA:
OK, you have a MW and are ready to go :) You can start recording - a DPL will normally appear in his or her own good time.

A few things:

I don't think the summary from Simon and Schuher (?) is public domain - could you please write your own before we get to the cataloguing? There is no rush (and I will remind you if you forget). :)

The ID tags are optional, they can be created from information in the database and the section compiler. If you do not intend to add them to each file you upload, please delete this section in the first post.

As a soloist you are your own BC. Here is some information on how to access and manage the MW. There is a lot of information here, you might want to set up a bookmark in your browser. I have filled in the title of the first chapter in the MW (the way I would if I was the BC).

Jo's simplified first-time login instructions (with pictures):
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxWB83bbALTQYjlENGZ0SVJUWWs

Workflow instructions for BC's and DPL's:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kVj409nG_E0XJ5UrrcL7EVx7Qyx-2UQ7dbw4mINi3XQ
Now in the wiki: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/BC%27s:_How_to_update_the_Magic_Window

Once you set up a password in the Workflow, remember that it is stored separately from your forum password and that changing one will not change the other. Also, please use this combination of login and password for the uploader as the generic one normally pictured in group projects has only permissions in the workflow to upload files, nothing else.

Please let me know if you have any questions or problems,
Kathrine

Hi Jo!!!

It has been a while... thanks! Happy to do it again! I hope I didn't get too rusty. I've been working on my accent but I don't think that will ever go away despite living in the US for 21 years. I enjoy reading and it helps me improve!

Best wishes to you! Librivox is the best thing since sliced bread!! I love it!

The new system easily makes the tags, so you don't have to fill them in at all :)
