Hope you are all having a wonderful "holiday". Our family "Christmas" will be on the 27th, as my brother will be out from Ohio and my daughter up from Arizona.
Chapter 26 and 29 are both now marked PL OK.

Chapter 29 is marked PL OK. That's almost as funny a chapter as Mrs. Proudie's.
We had a wonderful New Year's weekend with out of town family and lots of fun. Jan 1st was my son's 27th birthday, and he came down for a visit, to play Scrabble with his grandparents. Then he and I went out on our annual "restaurant adventure" (going out to restaurants that nobody likes but us). Hope your celebrations were all merry and bright as well.

Hi Arlene,
I'm glad you had a good time. Ours were somewhat subdued as Helen was ill, so we cancelled our visit to friends. But she was well enough to go to a wonderfully funny play - Peter Pan goes Wrong.
I'm afraid there may be something of a gap before I can finish any more chapters. I am 3/4 of the way through chapter 30 but I have computer problems; my monitor suddenly stopped working mid activity; I eventually got some help from someone who had a spare monitor that did work, and I have replaced the broken monitor; but now my USB ports (that I need for my printer, my microphone, my headphones, and to export what I have done to another computer) have stopped working.
Incidentally, we are now planning our American trip for mid to late September. Do you work at weekends? We are now thinking of ending the trip at Seattle, and flying back from there.
All the best
Nick

Hardware problems - yuck! I wish you all the luck.
I do not typically work weekends. I've been on call every 4th weekend for the last 5 years, but I believe that is coming to an end, as nobody ever calls! With several weeks of lead time, I can get almost any day off work. I have more than 4 weeks of vacation every year, and never use all of it. So practically any day works for me.
Mid-to-late September can be a beautiful time in Seattle. Often, our fall rains start the last week of August, and then bloom into a lovely "Indian Summer" later in September. I'm hoping for good weather so that you can enjoy our beautiful mountain scenery. But as you know from living in a marine climate yourselves, weather can change here every 20 minutes.
Hope Helen is much better. Many of my friends have had an ugly virus that attacks twice, with a week or two between bouts. I hope she avoided that one.

Hi Arlene
At last I have been able to finish editing chapter XXX and my nightmare with the electronic equipment seems to be over!
I now have a USB hub and yet another new set of headphones (they have to be USB connected as the jack plug connection no longer works!)

With a bit of luck I shall be able to complete another chapter before we go for our annual cross-country skiing in Geilo (1st February)
All the best

Hi
We had a great holiday, despite the snow being a bit sparse in places.
Helen had a bad fall but it didn't stop her skiing and she is now recovering with the help of our friendly osteopath!
Here is Chapter XXII

I hope you enjoy it.

Chapter 32 sounds great, and I've marked it PL OK. I enjoyed it, as always.
It is good to hear that you had a wonderful vacation and that Helen's fall had no long term consequences. It's amazing how resilient the human body can be. I'm afraid we must have gotten the snow meant for you. We rarely get several inches of snow at once, as we did two weeks ago.

Hi
I'm afraid it's going to be a few weeks before the next chapter. I was half way through editing Chapter XXXIII when I fell foul of kidney stones; I am now out of pain and recovering my strength, but my computer fell foul of the OSIRIS virus - a ransom malware. I can't use my own computer for the while, and I may have to replace my computer - in which case I may have to re-record Chapters XXXIII and XXXIV. If I do, it will have to wait until my son is with us on Mothering Sunday (he and his wife are planning to stay the night). His job is in computing so he is going to research my options and if necessary, see if he can set up any new computer with access to the old information - if he can do so safely. But for all I know, the audacity files may have been encrypted too! I am hoping my antivirus software has quarantined the virus - it said it had quarantined something on Friday, which is when the attack happened.
Hey Ho!
Sorry!
Nick

Nick,
I'm so sorry too hear. Troubles on the right and on the left.
Glad you are through the kidney stones . . . hope that you return to health and strength soon.
As for the ransomware - ugh. That is all I need to make tonight the night that I create a backup of my laptop.

So glad you're feeling better!
These computer ransoms are really getting out of hand! I spent Sunday removing a less intrusive one from my mother's computer. Best of luck!!!!!
