Hi EH,

it's been a long long time... I hope you're doing well!

Are you still ready to finish this recording?

Hi Availle,

Yes, I still very much want to finish this project! I was in Peru Last year, and have been busy with various other things, but I'll try to get a chapter done tomorrow!

Thanks for letting me drag this out; I'm so sorry!

NO worries! Since this is your solo, you can take as much time as you like, as long as you check in every now and then.

I'm glad to know you're still around and that you're doing well.

Peru - how cool is that! :D

Okay; I finally got a new chapter uploaded (chapter 23). I'm out of practice! Hopefully the new and old recordings blended okay. There is another chapter ready to go if I can get it edited.

I just noticed that the last file - 23 - ends with 192kb instead of 128kb... I hope the bitrate is still as it should be at 128kb.

If the file name is the only thing that's wrong, I can fix it later, no need to reupload. Just make a note in the MW so I don't forget please.
Cheers, Ava.

EDIT--
The upload worked from a different browser! Chapter 24 is ready for PL. Thanks!

Hi! I have Chapter 24 ready to upload but the "add files" button on the uploader doesn't seem to be working. I can upload chapter 23 again as well to make sure the bitrate is correct. Any ideas why I can't upload files?
Thanks for your help,

Hi, I think I will just re-record Chapter 23. I think it has some other problems, too.

Hi -

I've PLed 24 and the reading is just fine. However the volume level was about 94 dB - a bit high.

A practice that I have adopted for a recent solo project (Personal Narrative of Travels... Vol. 1, Alexander von Humboldt) that I have finished, and for a collaborative project (Dead Men's Shoes) that is nearly finished is checking the average sound level using Checker software.

I did a Checker sound check on a few of the most recently posted Mardi Vol. 1 Chapters. Most are a bit over the specified Librivox range, which is between 86 - 92 dB. I'm not suggesting that you should do anything about the volume of the Chapters you have already done, but you might want to check the volume of your future recordings as you do them. Checker is a free download and easy to use. I think if we submit sections that are within range it makes life easier for our MC when it comes to cataloguing.

I'll wait to PL 23 when it is re-recorded, and look forward to hearing more sections.

Regards

Gail

Hola--
Chapter 25 is uploaded and ready for PL. I downloaded and used the Checker software--the first time it failed because it was a stereo track! Are we really supposed to use mono? Anyway, the second time it passed, so hopefully the volume is better on this one. I think next I'll go back and redo 23. Thanks! :D

Yes, we absolutely MUST use mono! Otherwise we'll run into all sorts of problems during cataloging!

I really hope that this one file was the only one in stereo, because if it is not, I will have to download each and every file and convert it to mono manually...

umm....
can I convert them and re-upload them? It is possibly I only started the stereo thing lately, but I doubt it. :(
