72-73 PL OK.

They just started non-stop flights to NZ. Only 15 hours! Next trip to NZ may be sooner than we expected.

Hi -

Chapters 74 and 75 are uploaded, ready for DPLing. Thanks!

https://librivox.org/uploads/availle/mardi_074_melville_128kb.mp3
5:49.9, 90.9 dB

https://librivox.org/uploads/availle/mardi_075_melville_128kb.mp3
6:22.7, 88.7 dB
Sorry, but 75 is pretty boring - almost reminiscent of AvH's lists!

Your comment about bush birds reminded me to upload a recording of good bellbird song that I heard a few weeks ago - http://naturewatch.org.nz/observations/10933017.

Cheers

Nice recording. Your phone? Costa Ricans brag about their singing birds but my experience was that NZ had more songful birds in their forests.

Hi -

Chapters 76, 77 and 78 are uploaded for DPLing.

https://librivox.org/uploads/availle/mardi_076_melville_128kb.mp3
3:22.9, 90 dB

https://librivox.org/uploads/availle/mardi_077_melville_128kb.mp3
5:36.8, 89 dB

https://librivox.org/uploads/availle/mardi_078_melville_128kb.mp3
6:19.6, 89.6 dB

Yes, the bellbird recording was with my phone with an app called TW Recorder (just the free version). Input gain can be increased. Then sound editing esp. background noise reduction in Audacity.

Thanks for listening.

Hi -

A whole bunch of Chapters ready for listening, please -- 81 through 85.

https://librivox.org/uploads/availle/mardi_081_melville_128kb.mp3
5:38.6, 90.4 dB

https://librivox.org/uploads/availle/mardi_082_melville_128kb.mp3
5:28.5, 90.5 dB

https://librivox.org/uploads/availle/mardi_083_melville_128kb.mp3
2:37.1, 90.1 dB

https://librivox.org/uploads/availle/mardi_084_melville_128kb.mp3
18:04.2, 89.8 dB. This one had to have compressor applied to get the volume up. Please let me know if there is any distortion -- except that there was a small amount as I edited through, before applying compressor.

https://librivox.org/uploads/availle/mardi_085_melville_128kb.mp3
3:36.9, 89.3 dB

We are getting somewhere, less than 20 Chapters to go.

Cheers

86-88 PL OK.

The www says it's an archaic spelling of yclept (to call or name). Doesn't seem to quite fit in this usage. Well, it's a good word if your playing Scrabble.

Hi -

Chapter 89 is uploaded for listening.

https://librivox.org/uploads/availle/mardi_089_melville_128kb.mp3
5 min 25 sec, 90.9 dB.

I also looked ycleped up via www -- since it didn't look like any obvious miscoding in making the text file I wondered whether I was going to have to dive into the pdf file to find the real word. As you said, it didn't particularly make sense in the context. I seldom run into a word that I have never seen before but Melville seems to be quite good at finding them.

Thanks,

Gail

We'll have to come up with an emoji for ycleped.
