P01 alcune annotazioni non importanti, che potrai valutare tu se sia il caso o meno di essere prese in conto:
• 1:39 a pag. 77. Nel testo che seguo è scritto” potevamo essere tranquilli”, Letto “stare tranquilli”, ma ovviamente il senso non cambia assolutamente e quindi può restare così.
• 38:37 a pag. 106: “…ora visitata nei suoi quartieri classci,…”. Non hai letto la parola suoi.
• 40:44 a pag 108. Nel testo che seguo è scritto ”…dal sabbato alla domenica, i dormienti sono più rari…”; non hai letto “i dormienti”.
• 46:25 a pag 112. Mi sembra che nella frase “…moderni, non scomparirà giammai…”, tu legga “mai” invece di “giammai”.

Hello Sonia, this is the presentation I'd like to use for the audiobook. Please let me know what I should do next.


"Questa del 1874 è la seconda edizione del volume XXII della Biblioteca di Viaggi pubblicata dai Fratelli Treves. Gli editori vi riunirono in ordine cronologico inverso le osservazioni e impressioni di due visitatori europei della metropoli londinese dell’epoca.
Londra era il centro del potere economico e coloniale britannico e di quel sistema volatile che trasportava e trasformava merci e persone su scala mondiale; le differenze socio-economiche e di benessere che la caratterizzavano erano estreme.

Nella prima parte abbiamo i quattro articoli su Londra che Edmondo De Amicis, nella sua veste di apprezzato scrittore di viaggio, produsse per la rivista settimanale Nuova Illustrazione Universale, e che i lettori italiani trovarono in alcuni dei numeri pubblicati tra dicembre ‘73 e febbraio ‘74.
I suoi “Ricordi di Londra” non furono originalmente strutturati per farne un libro, e le avventure ed emozioni che l’autore condivide hanno spesso un carattere spontaneo e leggero e ci trasportano nello spirito del tempo.

Segue un’esperienza personale molto diversa e poco turistica che precede solo di pochi anni quella di De Amicis. Louis Simonin, aggiungendosi ad altri scrittori che ne avevano già denunciato l’esistenza, descrive una Londra ancora poco nota, quella densamente popolata e fatiscente dove vivono nell’indigenza, e sembrano esservi confinati, coloro che sono caduti nella miseria o vi appartengono fin dalla nascita. (Interessante notare che è in questa parte della città che scopriamo una ricca vita notturna e di intrattenimento popolare che nella prima parte veniva menzionata per la sua mancanza).

Ironicamente, di lì a poco visitare i quartieri poveri si trasforma in un fenomeno turistico e lo “slumming” diventa di moda.
