If you want some orientation, I just finished this.
Thanks for the link. I am downloading it now. Is it easier going than this is?

He summarises and comments on each chapter of Butler. He does have a tendency towards being verbose but not nearly as bad as Butler's three-sentences-merged-into-one writing style. And helpfully, his lectures tend to only be about 10 minutes.
That was actually easier to listen to than his other chapters.
Thankyou! Easier, I suspect, because this was the work of the editor, not Butler himself. Did you notice the line in the introduction? He wasn't exaggerating.mleigh wrote: ↑August 1st, 2022, 11:35 am That was actually easier to listen to than his other chapters.
I just have a few comments here.
0:06 you have the full intro here, in at least some of the other recordings you have used the shorter one. Your call.
about 22:42 the text reads "which might not be i compatible with justice" I hear "compatible"
at about 48:42 You have "chapter 4" should be "chapter 6" -those pesky Roman numerals

Spot checks for section 3 areMackintosh says, “No thinker so great, was ever so bad a writer.”
It hasn't gotten any easier to listen to after a month's break.

Two small comments, I probably would have ignored the second one if not for the first.
At about 21:30-21:26 and 21:37-21:44, there is a repeat of "1. Future punishment may be as natural a sequence of sin, as a broken limb is of falling from a precipice."
At about 32:10, "5" is missing in "5. It shows a mental defect not to see evidence unless it is glaring; and a corrupt
heart not to be influenced by it unless overpowering."
