Ah! I get that. Being Québecoise, I pronounced it in French. Eliot also was bilingual, lived and wrote in French. I'll give a listen tomorrow.

Morning Jo. I did a tiny research and learned a great thing: Eliot's poem references a Canadian location! The strait of Belle Isle is between Labrador and Newfoundland, so it would have been "discovered" by Samuel de Champlain or John Cabot probably, francophones both. Whether the locals pronounce it Belle Ile or Belle Aisle would depend on their ancestry. I find it does not rhyme with anything either way, rather the soft 'i' of Ile supports the "i" in wind and windy, so I prefer to leave it pronounced as is. What do you think?

I did know he had been to Canada, as I was all aflutter once composing poetry on Mount Orford in Quebec, where he had also written.

Thanks. I'm just reloading 7, only because the description on the mp3 was wrong. The original compilers had its title as Surgeon's Warning (inverted with the Mowers). I changed only that, nothing in the recording itself.

@3:52 "First they the leaden coffin lay" Seems to be a not very smooth edit here?

@5:00 "he crew" I hear "he grew" - I think here "crew" is an archaic past tense of "crow"

@6:30 longish pause here - maybe intentional?
