I learned to hang lights using some of the equipment he talks about. That includes resistance plate dimmers.
Of particular challenge was the fact that the stage doubled as a gym and therefore had a polished oak floor that would reflect light right where you did not want it.

I'll get to these last three in the next day or so, Jim.
I've done rigging on a grid similar to the one described in the last chapter. A 40' climb straight up an iron ladder bolted to the wall and then out onto the iron-grid to reposition pulleys and run ropes. Interesting experience... The worst part was the step back off the grid onto the ladder to get back down. Oh and there was a skylight in the roof that had to be blacked out for the matinee.
