Secs 2 and 24 might even be short enough to fit into the current Coffee Break Collection - Vacations. That is, if they are stand-alone stories.

Can you recommend a "favorite" chapter or two that would be most fun to record?
Hi, Michele. :D

I agree most chapters are pretty self-contained, and could be "stand-alone" stories.

I think the most dramatic is Chapter VII, in which a poorly prepared Hedin crosses the waterless Takla-Makan desert at the cost of some lives, and nearly loses his own. A tense short story that reflects poorly on the author.

Have fun with it!

This book is full of the most vivid and real descriptions of places, events and processes than any other I have ever read. The style and words the authors uses just brings all he tells about to life in my mind! Astounding!
Hi, Kiki :D

Sounds like we have a winner! Thank you for reviewing!
Section 7 is also PL OK!

Steve
In some places I do have a feeling that he has freely added some imagination to his actual experiences... but maybe I am wrong.
Now let's do some traveling around China! 8-)

Section 12 is PL OK!
A lot of history and customs of China and very little of Hedin's travel... Interesting chapter anyway.

Thank you, Kiki! :D

I'm off for the Arctic tomorrow morning and will be away for about a month. I'll check on our project when I get back.

I had to laugh about that very educated albatross, knowing of sea currents and islands and - almost - their histories! Great narrative though.
