A Life Unveiled by a Child of the Drumlins, by Anonymous

This project is now complete.  All audio files can be found on our catalog page here:

https://librivox.org/a-life-unveiled-by-a-child-of-the-drumlins-by-anonymous/

A memoir of a young woman, who lived in the late 19th century in the United States. Starting with her pastoral youth and progressing through to her studies to become a doctor at Boston University, this is a frank and refreshing portrait of a young American girl’s upbringing; the impressions made upon her at a young age, the navigation through adolescence, and the determination of an emerging adult woman. Told with a sense of humor, wonder and delight. (Summary by Phyllis Vincelli)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Phyllis. All set up here. As soon as Larry checks in, I'll move the thread. I put the genre in as Memoir, but I can change it if that's not what you wanted.

With Houdini in the catalog, I thought I'd better get a start on these while I some time off.

Sections 4 - 6 now ready. I'm sure I've been to her village many times - we've done many hikes around Auburn and Montezuma; it truly is gorgeous country still.

9 and 10 now ready. It seems so strange to me that many of the books I've chosen have taken place or had many references to home. Some, like Susan B Anthony, I was aware of. In this chapter, she mentions a visit from a professor from Rochester University (now University of Rochester), where I worked for 20 years! And although the Powers Art Gallery is no more, the Powers Building still stands and is in use.

Oh, that is so interesting!

Sorry to be behind on my PL work.
Among other things, my wife fell and broke her right knee cap so she's been laid up. So, I'm busy trying to do all of her tasks! And, she does a lot! Taking her in to see the knew specialist tomorrow, so we may know more then. Next week may be rough since she transports the grandkids to and from school, and that doesn't mesh with my work schedule, but we'll figure something out.

Many blessings for the New Year!

Oh Larry, I'm so sorry to hear about your wife - that had to be very painful! Hope she has a speedy recovery.
And I hope 2022 is a better year on all fronts. Happy New Year to you - I feel so very fortunate to have you as a dedicated PL and Jo as MC. Librivox has been such a joy to me, especially during the last 2 years, and the experience has been all the better with the both of you helping me through.

Cheers!

We've been on some interesting journeys together, for sure!

My wife is doing well, but at least another week before trying to drive. So, I'm picking up the grand kids from school next week, and our daughter can adjust her schedule to get them there. And, I'm picking up more of the household chores, of course.

Next year will see some changes as we take off in the fall in an RV to travel the country, ending up in southern California to spend winter months with our older daughter and family, then back her for the summer. Lots of friends and family to visit along the way. Hoping to repeat the cycle a few more times, as long as our health allows. I'll probably do a bit less recording for LV and concentrate mainly on BC and DPL projects.

Oh, I got a chance to listen to the very entertaining Section 7. Her description of the pet phrases in church .... and the man who would pray, "Tonight-ah," etc. building to a crescendo, is a perfect description of old Bro. Ferris in our church in Walla Walla, Washington when I was a teen. But, it really was genuine and heart-felt.

Many blessing for the New Year!
