Hi Dave,

I've just been doing some forward planning, checking probable chapter lengths, etc, but stopped short at Chapter 53, which weighs in at a staggering 18,580 words and embraces several different styles within it, including drama type dialogue and diary entries.

I think it will need to be split into three, possibly four, parts, with breaks in sensible places. It's not easy to decide where the breaks should be, but I'm working on it!

I'm sure that's right, but I would love to know what advice, if any, Charles Reade's original publisher gave him about the best way to set out his story.
