O Cortiço by Aluísio Azevedo (1857 - 1913).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/o-cortico-by-aluisio-azevedo/

( Adriana Sacciotto)
  1. Text source (only read from this text!): https://digital.bbm.usp.br/handle/bbm/4817
  2. Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard
    .
IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:

      .
    • If you wish, say:

Hello, MaryAnn, :D

I was able to record the first chapter, thank Lord! Well, I still have to do the editing, that's why I haven't uploaded it yet: a job for tomorrow, which is today here, but later!
Bedtime now,

See you,

Hello, MaryAnn!

That's ok, we all have our limits. "Everybody is ignorant, only on different subjects". (Will Rogers)
Thank you, anyways, for your support!
Have a nice Sunday.

Hello, dear Brazilian fellows! Hello, dear Sonia! :D

I'm back to life! What a long break! I have been absent minding my new microphone, which didn't work at all. Yes, I had to turn it back to the seller, unfortunately. The only way of keeping it, would be buying a Mac or an IPad. I don't have the spare money by now, so I had to keep on using my old fellow dynamic mic, instead of a wonderful condenser Apogee 96k. What a pity, what a pity!...
Well, I'll look for another good mic to replace that one.

For now, here's my chapter number two:

DURATION: 28:51

I need to run with my recordings, because I feel myself falling behind.

Hugs,

Adriana,

Falling behind? Girlfriend, you set the schedule! No need to put extra pressure on yourself.

Sorry that the new mic was such a trouble. Sometimes old friends are best.

Shphynx - Very few people like to listen to their own voice. Mine sounds so different than it sounds within my head!
We have a guide for proof listeners here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Guia_para_Revisores_de_%C3%81udio_(Proof-listeners)

Adriana - I am afraid you uploaded section 2 to Kitty's folder. It should go in my folder. Can you please upload it again so that it doesn't get lost?

Google says:

Oh, sorry for that, MaryAnn! Me and my mistakes... I'm always in a rush doing million of different activities. The latest one was about making my own furniture: a wardrobe! LOL We have to challenge ourselves once and a while. Unfortunately, I haven't won the mic battle yet. This has been a hard fight. Anyways, I'll make it sooner or later.

Here's the link to chapter 2:

Abraços a tod@s! Many hugs, :9:

Sorry for the inconvenient, Shphynx! I was about to read that book, and then I made a mistake when attaching the link. It's supposed to be ok now. Thank you for warning me.

Have a nice weekend everyone! :9:

Shphynx,

I have added you as DPL. After you listen to a section, you need to change the "status" in the MW to either "see PL notes" or "PL OK".

You'll need to start by logging into the magic window. Instructions are in the BC How-to; and this is a more detailed version of the First Login instructions (with pictures!)

If you have any trouble accessing the MW, please let us know and we will help you out.

Oi Adriana!

:hmm: kkk)

I

5:58 "vinte mil réis à peste do cego" - pareceu a voz do google kkk

6:33 "que ele entendeu de pespegar-lhe" - palavra

27:26 "como essas coisas se furtavam" - palavra

29:36 "das suas hortas recolhia para si" - palavra

33:52 "parar às mãos do velhaco" – palavra

34:02 - chiado

34:23 até 34:26 - chiado

34:55 - chiado

35:00 - chiado

35:15 - chiado

35:39 até 35:59 - chiado

37:28 - 37:33 - chiado

15:26 "desabafava" - palavra

18:51 "os militares não se recolhessem" - palavra

22:19 "lhe dizia contra o outro” – palavra

22:56 " sem tugir nem mugir" – palavra

28:51 5 segundos de silêncio
