Awful Disclosures Of Maria Monk, as Exhibited an a Narrative of Her Sufferings During a Residence of Five Years as a Novice, and Two Years as a Black Nun, in the Hotel Dieu Nunnery at Montreal, by Maria Monk;

Published 1836 in London. Made and printed in Great Britain by Truslove & Bray, Ltd., West Norwood, S.E.

The 1836 book "Awful Disclosures of Maria Monk", or, "The Hidden Secrets of a Nun’s Life in a Convent Exposed" claimed to expose systematic sexual abuse of nuns by Catholic priests in her convent in Montreal, and infanticide of the resulting children. The book was a best-seller in its time, and the issue of nun sexual exploitation remains relevant today as evidenced by 2019 admissions by Pope Francis.
