Google doesn't show for me either

Which considering he is Australian, it was published in 1900. and died in 1905 is a trifle annoying.

I can see Hathi full-view.

Once when I contacted Hathi about a text that should have been visible everywhere but wasn't, they answered me by basically saying that it's Google's fault and to contact them. (Come to think of it, I don't think I ever did.

) Apparently they source some of their texts from Google books and just follow whatever kind of availability Google has on them? I don't really get it, but in any case, I'm not surprised that one is limiting access if the other is.

You are in the USA - and Google is American - I have no objection to that, I just get annoyed when they try to pretend they aren't

or that they care.

The Google Book is full view for me in Canada.

As I recall, Google is quite responsive when someone makes a request for them to open up a book. You could try it on this one, perhaps. (I would, but since I can see it, I don't know how.)

How ... how does one judge a duel to the death? Is the person who survives not automatically the winner?

Maybe it's like in Roman arenas: They duel, the lady judges the winner, the other guy has to die?
