J.D. Beresford was a student of H.G. Wells' and an SF writer in his own right but this forgotten book sounds wonderful. Here's his co-biography of a person who was "unquestionably good" and "in no way famous":

William Elphinstone Ford wrote no books himself, but had revolutionary theories of didacticism and education, argue the authors of his biography.
