Suggestion from Twitter:
The Last American
A Fragment from the Journal of Khan-li, Prince of Dimph-yoo-chur and Admiral in the Persian Navy
http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/7485
"There's a story from the late 19th or early 20th about an Arab expedition to the long collapsed United States (after some sort of apocalypse) it had illustrations. Book length. Kind of a satire. Cute funny."
9400-ish words, so it could be squeezed into the Short Story Collection. I haven't read it, so it MIGHT fit into Sci-fi Collection??

I have read the first few pages of this; it would definitely fall in the SciFi realm of SciFi, in the general style of the Future History books of RH Heinlein. There is also an almost comic feel to the satire.
It's been a while since I did any recording, so don't remember how to proceed if I wanted to do the reading; would be grateful for advice.
Cheers

Welcome back!
If you can get it all into one file of 74 minutes or less, then it can go straight into the Short Science Fiction Collection. Read the instructions in the first post here: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=81343
If it's longer than that, then it'll need to be broken up into more than one file, and it could be its own solo. Here's instructions/links for setting up a solo project: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=13513

Thanks Tricia!
I will take this one on, but I don't want to rush through the reading, so I don't know how long it will be. Perhaps it would be better to do it as a solo project to start. However, if it turns out to be less than 74 mins, could it be switched to the Short SciFi Collections?

I'm thinking what you could do is record it, then see what the length is. If it's not too long, name it correctly and submit it to the collection. If it's too long, split it at an appropriate spot, adding in the intro/outro at the split of the two files. Then start the solo project.
That's what I'd do.

Hi Tricia,
With profound apologies, I have to finally admit that I'm not going to be able to do this one. The past year has been difficult for a number of reasons, and I find I'm not up to recording at the moment. I may try at a later date, but with perhaps a shorter piece.
Regards
Pardeep

No worries - you were never obligated to do it. Perhaps someone else will find it interesting and decide to record it!
