Suggestion from Twitter:

The Last American
A Fragment from the Journal of Khan-li, Prince of Dimph-yoo-chur and Admiral in the Persian Navy

http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/7485

"There's a story from the late 19th or early 20th about an Arab expedition to the long collapsed United States (after some sort of apocalypse) it had illustrations. Book length. Kind of a satire. Cute funny."

9400-ish words, so it could be squeezed into the Short Story Collection. I haven't read it, so it MIGHT fit into Sci-fi Collection??
Hatfields & McCoys Sensationalist Account: An American Vendetta
Humor: Maxims of Methuselah about women
