I cant find anything by Ethel Lina White (1876-1944) in the catalogue? She wrote The Wheel Spins, which was the basis for Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes.
Here is a 1907 story by her entitled "The Call of the Tiger". It could become part of a short mystery collection.

A good choice for a short mystery collection. Here is a link to the original in The Strand magazine Sept 1907

Well, Anne, I always used to say that Californians didn't have an accent, just an attitude--but that was before I moved to California 33 years ago. Try this link: https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=hvd.hn4lq6&view=image&seq=312.
Hope all are safe and well,

Addition: I see Fritz beat me to it!
