Today I have put in an interlibrary loan request as follows:

Lord Dunsany
The King of Elfland's Daughter
Book Edition
1924
Date Published
1924

It being June, this will give me some time to scan it in and record, or at least decide if I want to do a solo or group project.

I wonder how many have been salivating over this project.

Good idea - but just for those less familiar with PD laws, this will not be PD in the USA until Jan 1st 2020.

Yes, 2020, only 6 months away! Plenty of time to scan in and record it. I pick it up at the library TODAY! WHEE!

After anticipating the mere arrival of 1923 works for sooooo long, it seems just amazing that we can look forward to a new wealth of potential projects tumbling into the public domain EVERY YEAR. I feel like we are still digesting and enjoying the finds in 1923 and we are only 6 months away from a similar bonanza. I can't imagine how exciting it must be for you folks doing this since 2005-2006 (or participating in PG since before then) to have all this new material to play with after so many years.

Yes and no. It's nice to have more modern stuff (not really modern, just MORE modern). But on the other hand, there's still a TON of 1922 and earlier books that aren't done, so it's not as if we were running out of material.

I have a PG clearance for The King of Elfland's Daughter from the fadedpage edition. It will be posted to PG early in January 2020 by the original PPer at PGDP.

Fadedpage has a copy of this already. I have a clearance with PG for the fadedpage edition. It will be posted to PG in January of 2020 by the original fadedpage/pgdpcanada PPer. No need to scan, as you can just use the copy from fadedpage.

I've merged two threads together.

We don't want to generate interest in works still under copyright. We won't set up 1924/2020 projects or encourage anyone to record them early, because that would be encouraging them to break copyright law today.

Well, I looked at your links and it appears this version was published in 1927. The version I have from the library is published 1924. I am about to commence scanning mine in, as soon as I can get my scanner working with my new computer. Been too busy lately, but I won't take on anything new until that is done.

I already have the approved clearance from PG for the fadedpage edition. It is already proofed (in Canada where it's already PD) and will be posted in January.

Hi Greg, I'm not sure I follow. Does this means you are going to record Elfland for LV in January? If you are in Canada where it is PD already, must you wait?

I'm not going to record it, you are welcome to do so.

I'm in the US and not Canada, but I work with pgdpcanada quite a bit to clear things for PG-US. I got the TP&V scans for the edition they used and took another edition from 1924 and filed the clearance with PG-US. I also know the PPer that worked on the book for pgdpcanada and asked her to post the book in January when it becomes public domain in the US.

There's no need to scan the version you have. In January the version from fadedpage will be posted to Project Gutenberg in the US, at which point you can use the text from PG.
