I thought I'd suggest these, and include links and what I think is the order of the books (to make things easy for people who want to read them). It seems like some, if not many, of these are historical juvenile fiction. I've been listening to A Little Maid of Province Town (I'm on chapter 8—the solo project by Arielle Lipshaw), and I have to say if you like Anne of Green Gables, you'll probably appreciate A Little Maid of Province Town, too. It's really good, so far. Some of the links list used print books for sale where I couldn't find an e-text.

It's possible that Dorothy Foster Gilman is a pen name that she sometimes used (I notice a book with the same illustrator that lists Alice Tuner Curtis as the author in an edition and Dorothy Foster Gilman as the author in another—although the Dorothy Foster Gilman one might just be a typo someone made, since I haven't seen the actual book); they both published books in Boston. So, I'll list Dorothy Foster Gilman's books afterward.
