Their Silver Wedding Journey by William Dean Howells

Any readers or bcs with their silver wedding anniversary coming up? This is the book for you :9:

Mr march has been ill and is now throwing himself into his work, but his colleagues urge him to take a sabbatical, and his doctor and his wife urge him to travel. So why not combine the two and visit the places of their honeymoon 25 years ago :)

I'm listening to the excellent LibriVox audiobook of William Dean Howells' Indian Summer. https://librivox.org/indian-summer-version-2-by-william-dean-howells/ I've never understood why he is so little noticed these days. He can say in a single six-word sentence what takes Henry James a convoluted paragraph to say less well.

I'll add that although I've been a huge fan since I was a young whippersnapper, if it had not been for my shelf of (physical, old fashioned, hardbound) Howells novels, I would not have survived 3 months w/o electricity or internet or running water after Hurricanes Irma & Maria.

Finally--and then I'll get down off my W.D. Howells soapbox: I notice that even the indispensable @librivox has comparatively few of his novels. I may need to start reading for them, now I'm retired.
If he doesn't read for us, maybe others will provide him with audios? 8-)

We do have about 12 of his novels already. and 2 versions of an Indian Summer as well as many short stories - so I don't think he is ignored by LV :hmm:

Are 12 "comparatively few"? Maybe he wrote 200 of them.

he does give 121 hits at PG - but many of them are not fiction and I'm not planning to investigate which are.
