This was mentioned in an older thread on the "Suggestions, Comments, News & Discussion" board where listeners and LV-ers were recommending titles to check out. One person mentioned this book, which is not something as yet in our collection. Someone suggested that the poster mention it over here in "Book Suggestions" but it doesn't look like that ever happened, so I thought I'd go ahead and do it!

The book was Recollections of a Confederate Staff Officer, suggested by "mammamimi", who wrote about it:

"Recollections of a Confederate staff officer by Gilbert Moxely Sorrel. Written before he died in 1901 and published in 1905. It is in the Public Domain. It is a righthand account of the Civil War. Moxley Sorrel was Longstreet's right hand man. He was featured in the movie Gettysburg and a couple of other books. It's more of a look behind the scenes of the civil war. What was going on in-between battles, etc.

It's not on Gutenberg at this point, but it's on Internet Archive: https://archive.org/details/recollectionsac01sorrgoog/page/n8

Want to make a suggestion but would love a man with a southern accent to do a recording of:
“Recollections of a Confederate Staff Officer” by Moxley Sorrel
http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/52121
Approx. 78,000 words, or 8.5-9 hours of finished recording.
School fiction: David Blaize
America Exploration: The First Four Voyages of Amerigo Vespucci
Serial novel: The Wandering Jew
Medieval England meets Civil War Americans: Centuries Apart

I wonder if a South Milwaukee accent would be good enough.

Hello. Would this be a group project, or are you looking for a solo reader? Looks like an interesting read from the point of a Confederate officer.

I believe that Tricia is just relaying a request from someone on Facebook.

Solo or group would likely work. I'd contribute a chapter or two to a group project.
