The Vegetable Lamb of Tartary: A Curious Fable of the Cotton Plant by Henry Lee is a wonderful, engaging, little book of around 29,000 words from 1887 exploring and debunking the assertion that here was an animal plant that produced cotton. I have been considering launching it, but it very short and has some old English and bits of other languages in it. I think it would be better as a solo for someone comfortable with that.
